I've found "The Truth about Princesses" has been selling in many place including amazon.com.

You can preview the inside with google book.

There is some editorial review as well.

Also I tracked down my other book "The Dog Walker" in the web search and got this post about the book series. My book is the 8th one of the series. I feel pretty achieved since it seems to help many kids to learn English. As I mentioned in this blog before, myself also grew up with this book series to learn English.

Last but not least, this is not about my books but she is the latest publish I made. :D She is my inspiration and motive now, because when I look at this tiny face, I want to be a proud mom that she can brag about.

I made this for my lovely youngest sister Mindy's B-day. Especially she loves Cinnamoroll character from Sanrio which is flying in the sky. The cake looks a bit sloppy but it must taste great.

I've very enjoyed working on this project and also learned a lot about educational book illustrations. The most pleasant thing was that I've grown up with Yoon's English Academy books for learning English in Korea. Now I am making the book in USA. I might have had some connection with Mr. Yoon in my previous life. :p
I hope children in Korea can get good education with this book! Study hard, kids!

Kon-gi is LATE for the party

When I saw this week's IF topic "Late" I was immediately thinking of doing "Cinderella" late to the home before the spell disappearing. While I was doing the sketch for the illustration, I changed my mind. Oh yeah. There is "Kon-gi and Pah-gi", Korean version of "Cinderella". Kon-gi is the Cinderella in the story and she gets help from toads, sparrows to go to the party. But instead meeting the prince in the party, this story is showing that Kon-gi left her shoe in the water stream when she is hurry to the party and it's caught by Mr. Charming.

The adventure of Gugu

After I finish the freelance works, I continue making my first book "The Adventure of the little egg Gugu". Working on my own project alone is very lonely and absolutely needs lots of patient. After sending my huz to the company and finishing the Pilates class in the gym(Oh, I strongly recommend Pilates for all the artist especially those who have weak back like me), my studio time starts with coffee and some music. To tell you the truth, I have to watch out not to drink too much coffee for my teeth and caffeine addict. I am going too high and crazy and have to get out to cool down myself. -ㅅ-;;
I had this idea for long time, probably 2-3yrs and finally making as a book. I've already made rough Flash animation with this idea. I just love this time that I can be concentrated on my own work. Making my own children's book has been my long time dream since I was 7yrs old. Yes, I was making my own story with illustration since then. ;) Cheers to all the independent artists and long time dreamer including myself!

Shy Bunny

So I finally finished my first felt bunny. My sewing has been always terrible, but I had lots of fun two hours with her. I named her "Shy Bunny" since she looks somehow sad. probably because of her eyes. I am thinking what I would do with her. Decorating my old hat? Broach? Bag? Hmm BUT Miss Bunny is too shy to be everywhere......

Hmm she is not that neat but I like that she looks so warm and shy, Shy Bunny.

I've always loved doing figure paintings. I liked to capture the characters' right moments, even just few seconds when people are revealing their desires, mood and personalities. Today's model had that attitude of the elegance and lofty air and I loved it. She was great model.

IF: Fat astro boy FAIL

A real person inspired me :>

I felt so ironical when I found this article about "Fat Astro Boy" today 04/18/08. The article says that Tezuka production is really making "Fat Astro Boy" project for the 80th anniversary of Tezuka's birth. It called "AvoCali Style" combining "Avocado Maki" the famous Sushi in Japan and "California roll". They wanted to promote the Astro Boy to young people in these days.
I am not sure what is so related "Astro boy" to Sushi anyway.
They admitted that many "Astro Boy" fans had complaint about this new "Fat Astro Boy" design. I know I know... Mine is better...k k ;)
They are also talking about how Tezuka production is endeavoring to revive "Astro Boy " including their limited golden Astro boy status which made with pure gold and diamonds, priced almost $10k and "Fat Astro Boy" cell phones.
Also 3D animation "Astro Boy" will be released in 2009 which Yunglo is working on now as a modeler! You gotta be proud of it, ugh?

"This is chocolate!" gasped Hansel as he broke a lump of plaster from the wall.

"And this is icing!" exclaimed Gretel, putting another piece of wall in her mouth. Starving but delighted, the children began to eat pieces of candy broken off the cottage.

"Isn't this delicious?" said Gretel, with her mouth full. She had never tasted anything so nice.

"We'll stay here," Hansel declared, munching a bit of nougat. They were just about to try a piece of the biscuit door when it quietly swung open.

"Well, well!" said an old woman, peering out with a crafty look. "And haven't you children a sweet tooth?"”

Done in Painter using pastel, chalk brushes.

used Corel Painter X with a lot of brushes including oil, acrylic, pastel, blender......

I like sky among ocean, mountain and sky if somebody ask me. + I like rabbit among all the animals if somebody ask me. = I draw with my instinct so ..here it goes.
I am not sure if I like this thick oil painting texture.

Here is one cold hearted man escaping from the earth with his doggy the only his friend, where is full with celebration for Valentine's day.

Indeed I am very fond of Valentine's day because of chocolate and flowers that kind of stuff which I am expecting :p. This illustration is created for SCBWI (society of children's book writers and illustrators) contest. Hopefully hearing some good news.
